SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
Please be sure to include the author’s name and title of the submission in the email header, along with a brief bio and contact information. All written work should be submitted in PDF format.
Upcoming Issue Themes:
Short Stories-
We are looking for original stories of up to 10,000 words, taking place between the Arthurian period and pre WWI. All settings and locations are welcome, but must include some elements of the gothic: creepy atmosphere, supernatural beings, curses or prophecies, damsels in distress, heroes/anti-heroes, villains, romance, intense emotions, and any other strangeness which may crawl out from the imagination. We believe that gothic romance is more than just crumbling castles in England; though we love those too!
Non fiction/essays-
Up to 2,500 words and must be relevant to the most current upcoming theme of Briar Press Quarterly.
Poetry-
Poetry guidelines are a bit more open-ended, but will preferably be relevant to the most current upcoming theme of Briar Press Quarterly. Length will be left to the author’s discretion, but should not exceed the equivalent of 7 manuscript pages.
Artwork-
We welcome submissions of photography and illustrations relevant to the most current upcoming theme of Briar Press Quarterly. Please make sure JPGs have a resolution between 150-200, and pixel size between 400-700.
