This and Now My Love
A Poem by Emily Amber Faust
We are
through a tunnel
and under the fog
where willow trees
sing
in the language
of our lips
and wind
slips up our cuffs
to salt us
with bay
on the fourth of July
(my fingers
are tangled in your hair)
we are
a feeling
in our bones
when we sleep
of rolling west in a dream
together we are
everything
and just like a movie
this music
gilds the sky
and we drive
into a golden-heart
sun
(your long legs
are curled around mine)
we are
a song of the future
here
there
and everywhere
a child’s footprint
in water
shoes inside the door
with sea glass
and pebbles
arranged like
stars
(ours
and yours
and all of this
right now)
my
love.
